Abbie Lucas is a film director based in London, originally from Aotearoa, New Zealand. In 2018, Levile TV listed her as one of the Top 20 Rising Female Filmmakers in the UK. She is a member of Directors UK and Women in Film and Television UK. In 2022 she was invited to participate in the Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Lab.

As a storyteller, she enjoys stories with flawed relationships, female protagonists, vigilantes, crime, and a bit of magical realism but most of all loves work with strong performances and impactful story lines. She is known for exploring dark themes in ways that are humorous and unexpected.

Her credits include a black and white screwball comedy web series A QUICK FORTUNE, which was officially selected for festivals worldwide including Raindance and Miami Web Fest where she was nominated Best Director, the award winning TESTING GRETA an unusual story about domestic abuse, which took the 'Greeks of the World' Prize at the 40th Drama Film Festival in Greece and VOICES, which was  awarded ‘Best Drama’ at the BIFA qualifying Beeston Film Festival and has been officially selected into over 30 festivals including, most notably, the Academy Qualifying Seattle Independent Film Festival and the BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival. It also gained a Special Mention for 'Best Director of a Short Film' at the Unrestricted View Film Festival 2023.

As a theatre director she has had shows performed at The Criterion, Soho Theatre, Pleasance London, Southwark Playhouse, Upstairs at the Gatehouse, Theatre 503, The Old Red Lion, Tristan Bates, Riverside Studios, Arts at the Old Fire Station in Oxford and the Groundlings Theatre in Portsmouth. 

She has also worked on a number of scripts with various co-writers including;  MONEYSHOT a darkly comic 30min sitcom about cam models set in Detroit (with Kevin Kautzman and Lenny Platt), CHICKEN CHICAS a 30min sitcom about two wannabe influencers who start a love and relationship podcast (with Catherine O'Shea), FALLING BACK IN a romantic comedy feature about divorce which was a semifinalist in the 2020 Final Draft Big Break Competition (with Shamir Dawood and Billie Vee), GREY DUCK a coming of middle age dramedy feature that came second place in the script competition at the 2021 Hamilton Film Festival, PICKLEBALL a Caddy Shack-esque sports comedy feature, CONVERTIBLE an anthology feature about a 1960 Fiat 500 Transformable and DOUG MUST DIE a comedy about a life coach who falls in love with death (all with Kevin Kautzman).
